St. John’s Steppingstones Preschool welcomes the active participation and involvement of parent and grandparents in all its activities. We respect parents as the primary educators of their children and support parents in that role. We offer you and your child high academic standards, a faith and values centered curriculum, and a safe, secure environment conducive for learning. We are committed to teaching your child in a way that provides them with a life-long faith and academic foundation.
Classrooms have parent volunteers to coordinate special activities. Some parents read to the class, some chaperone field trips, and some volunteer to help with whole class projects and events. We encourage our parents and community leaders to share career and life experiences that correlate with class work throughout the school year.
We are very blessed to have an active group of parents at St. John’s. We hope that all new families help us continue this long tradition. Dedicated parents are one the cornerstones of our school’s success.
If you are interested in volunteering for any preschool activities, helping in the classroom, or joining us on field trips, St. John’s Catholic School and Steppingstones Preschool, under the direction of the Archdiocese of St. Paul and Minneapolis, have implemented steps to protect the children. The “Essential Three” requirements are: a completed background check, a signed Code of Conduct, and attendance of a VIRTUS class. The background check, code of conduct and class registration is all available in one location online at www.virtus.org . VIRTUS: Protecting God’s Children, is a program for protecting children from child sexual abuse. These classes are held at various times throughout the year here at St. John’s. If you cannot attend the St. John’s sessions, you may attend any VIRTUS session offered within the Archdiocese. If you have any questions on either the background checks or the VIRTUS class, you may call Christine Kelly in the Parish Office at 952.890.9465, ext. 117 and she will assist you.
