St. John’s offers competitive sports through the South Side Youth Organization (SSYO). The SSYO is made up of 28 private schools around the Twin Cities metro area. Charger students in grades 4-8 are welcome to participate in the following:
Sport | Boys | Girls |
Volleyball (fall) | ✅ | |
Soccer (fall) | ✅ | ✅ |
Basketball (winter) | ✅ | ✅ |
Some students choose to play both for our school and with another youth team (Burnsville Athletic Club, Prior Lake Athletics for Youth, Prior Lake Soccer Club, etc). St. John’s athletics is dedicated to fostering a competitive spirit that emphasizes the need for teamwork, dedication and school pride, along with respect for self, teammates, coaches, opponents and officials. St. John’s students younger than 4th grade can participate in weekend clinic opportunities. This is meant to be an introduction to the sport. Fundamental skills are introduced in a fun and positive environment. Traditionally, there have been volleyball, basketball and sport-sampler clinics (four sessions each). For more information on SJB athletics, contact the admissions and activities coordinator, Ann Noonan, by email or calling 952-890-6604 x132. Visit the SSYO website for league information and directions to sporting events.
