(Grades 1-5)
Family Faith Formation is an innovative 1st-5th grade Catholic religious education program proven to be the answer to the catechetical crisis of the past several decades. Based on the principle that "Parents are the primary educators in the Faith" (GDC 255), Family Formation revolves around weekly family gatherings where home lessons, provided by St. John's, are worked on and discussed by parents with their children at home. Monthly gatherings at St. John's on the first Wednesday of the month begin with a community meal (free will offering) where families can gather, socialize, and share. Youth in 1-5 grades then learn about a topic in a grade-level setting with a trained catechist, while at these same monthly gatherings their parents gather with Fr. Little and staff to learn, pray, share, and support each other while being formed in the Faith on the same topic as the children. These shared learning experiences spill over into the family's everyday life as they open the doors to discussion of the Catholic Faith and families begin to live and breathe the life of the Church.
Materials used primarily come from the Church of St. Paul in Ham Lake, MN.
